Better than ever

Road to Recumbency

On the recumbent I'm riding more and longer distances than ever before on any bicycle. I'm a stronger rider and in better shape than ever. I'm riding more and enjoying it more.

I've never been a real fast rider or real strong hill climber, but I'm getting better. Earlier this spring I rode in Pedal Pittsburgh, a non-competitive organized ride benefiting the Community Design Center in Pittsburgh. I completed the 52 mile course. I was certainly not the fastest, but nor was I the slowest. The best part was on a long ascent that got steeper as it went up. Some bike club types passed me (standing up) on the initial, gradual ascent, but as the ascent continued (and they had to sit back down), I caught up and passed them. Who says recumbents can't climb!

Remember, slow and steady wins finishes the race ride!

More than ever
